Serotta Ottrott For Sale (first of two emails)

Friends, I have reluctantly decided to sell my 2010 Serotta Ottrott. This was Serotta’s top of the line bike at that time and still today many experts say it is one of the finest bicycles ever made. I am doing more trail riding at our summer place on Cape Cod, and I have another “winter bike” here in Pittsburgh. Therefore, this incredible bike is just not getting the riding time it deserves. Here are the specifics.

 

• 56 cm (effective) c-to-c top tube. It is a sloping top tube, so this is measured horizontally center to center
• This is the “SE” model, which was the custom Ottrott with nicer joints joining the carbon and titanium tubes.  Ben Serotta gave buyers of custom bikes many choices regarding stiffness and size. The original owner ordered only a slightly taller headtube for a more relaxed position. He did not order anything special regarding stiffness or size.
• SRAM Force 10 Speed group. 11-28 cassette and newer chain. The group functions flawlessly.
• Easton R900SL rims laced to DT Swiss 350 hubs. Although set up for the 10-speed group, the rear hub will accommodate an 11-speed group. I asked Rob to make this update last year and he also serviced the wheels at that time. It comes with Continental 25 mm tires in very good condition. The frame will not accommodate 28 mm tires (at least not with the current rims – wider rims might make 28s work).
• Serotta F3 Fork. Rare and highly prized.
• FSA bars (alloy), stem (alloy), and seat post (carbon)
• It comes with a beautiful Bontrager RL saddle pictured separately, not the Fizik Arione saddle currently mounted on the bike
• Crank arms are 175 mm
• The Dura-Ace pedals pictured are not included
• As currently configured and with pedals the bike weighs about 17 lbs
• Serial number OS X00989
• The bike has been very lightly used and lovingly cared for both by me and by the original owner. It is immaculate and in mint condition. It is the quickest and most comfortable bike I have ever owned.

 

Asking $2,200, which is a bargain for this remarkable machine. If there is no interest in the club, I’ll put it up on one of the national sites for at least $2,600
