8 Sr. Mainframe System Analysts (SA2) needed for long term contract opportunities

Our client, within the Federal Government, has a requirement for 8 Sr. Mainframe System Analysts (SA2), for long term contract opportunities in Ottawa. The contract will initially be for 1 year, with four 12 month extension options ultimately going to March 2020! The successful candidates will provide direction and implementation, in varies stages in developing the Systems Design, Analysis and Implementation of a large redesign project.

The major components of this assignment are as follows:
* Participate in all aspects of Systems Design, Analysis and Implementation of a large Development Project
* Assist in the analysis of requirements, processes and data towards developing and implementing solutions which address business and technical needs.
* Analyze and participate in the creation and gathering of Business requirements.
* Analyze existing processes and systems, data models and data holdings to determine and implement solutions that meet business requirements.
* Design and document in detailed specifications in a large mainframe environment following the standards and methodology (founded on RUP) used by the Project.
* Design data structures and files, sub-systems and modules, programs, batch, on line, and production monitoring procedures, testing strategy and systems.
* Perform quality assurance tasks (such as peer reviews) on their own work, as well as the work of others.
* Perform and document unit, regression, integration, end to end, and performance testing as required.
* Adhere to quality assurance standards as used in each phase of development and maintenance.
* Perform independent verification and validation of software applications and systems function and performance.
* Attend project / team meetings and briefings to articulate the purposed design or changes in a manner that makes sense to staff or to reach an understanding and/or solution to Systems Redesign related problems and issues.
* Report progress on an ongoing basis.
* Design, develop and maintain interfaces between new and existing systems.
* Design and document, in detail, all system components and their interfaces.
* Develop and maintain system modules, programs and/or sub-systems.
* Support and use the selected departmental methodologies and best practices.
* Support systems in test and production environments; perform complex problem resolution/debugging.
* Document testing scenarios for application under development and interfacing applications.
* Complete system documentation.
* Prepare the system for production releases and coordinates all changes with impacted partners.

Candidates must have:

- Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Systems Engineering or a related field and; Twelve (12) years; experience in IT with ten (10) years, experience as a System Analyst (or Application Architect, Business Architect or Business Analyst)
- Experience working on a large project in a government department/agency, crown corporation or private enterprise organization within the last ten (10) years demonstrating Senior System Analyst type work. Large is defined as greater than or equal to 10,000 employees
- IT experience in all phases of the systems development life cycle including systems analysis, project design, development and testing (minimum 2 years within the last 8 years)
- Experience working on an IBM Mainframe platform (minimum 4 years within the last 8 years)
- Candidates need to have, or be eligible for, Federal Government Security Clearance at the Reliability level.
- Candidates must also have very strong communication skills both written and spoken
- Supervisory references from the candidate's last two assignments (to be checked prior to interview by client)

Candidates will also be evaluated on the preferred qualifications including:

- JCL, COBOL, DB2, TSO, CICS and/or MQ Series Experience
- Experience with technical tools technologies such as Expeditor, Fileaid, Endevor and Abend-Aid

In-person interviews will take place in Ottawa in mid November with a start date in early March.
