Dear Dorian,

I hope the following answers help:

Colorcoding the misorientation according to an inverse pole figure map (ipdf colorcoding) means that
  1. Chose an inverse pole figure such that the identical rotation (no misorientation) is mapped to center of the fundamental region, i.e. compute the center direction of the fundamental region and set the specimen direction of the inverse pole figure to this center direction.
  2. Assign color to this inverse pole figures such that the center is mapped to white.
  3. For each misorientation you want to plot project it into this specific inverse pole figure and assign the corresponding color to this misorientation.
According to this definition small misorientations are plotted in light colors whereas darker colors indicate large misorientations. The different colors somehow indicates the different rotation axes.

Colorcoding according to the misorientation angle uses an ordinary colormap. Plotting the corresponding colorbar was indeed broken in MTEX 3.3.1 and has been fixed in MTEX 3.3.2. Thank you very much for reporting this.

Ralf.
