I'm quit sure it is possible. But can you give me the definition of beta fibres? Maybe you can also give me the definition of all other important fibres such that they can be included into MTEX directly?

Thank you.

Ralf.

Dear Ralf,

There is a very nice paper from Hirsch and Lücke (Description and Presentations Methods for Textures, in Textures and Microstructures 8 (1988), 131 - 151), which describes several different types of textures and their representation.

The problem with the beta fibre is that is, that the path is not fixed in the Euler space, it connects only the intensity maxima in the ODF sections along the fibre.

Hi,

after

Sidor, J. J. & Kestens, L. A.
Analytical description of rolling textures in face-centred-cubic metals
Scripta Materialia, Elsevier , 2013, 68, 273-276

you can define the following:

BFOri = [...
[35.3 45.0 0.0 ];...
[33.6 47.7 5.0 ];...
[32.1 51.0 10.0];...
[31.1 54.7 15.0];...
[31.3 59.1 20.0];...
[35.2 64.2 25.0];...
[46.1 69.9 30.0];...
[49.5 76.2 35.0];...
[51.8 83.0 40.0];...
[54.7 90.0 45.0];...
[90.0 35.3 45.0];...
[80.2 35.4 50.0];...
[73.0 35.7 55.0];...
[66.9 36.2 60.0];...
[61.2 37.0 65.0];...
[55.9 38.0 70.0];...
[50.7 39.2 75.0];...
[45.6 40.8 80.0];...
[40.5 42.7 85.0];...
[35.3 45.0 90.0];...
]*degree;
betaFibre = orientation('Euler', BFOri(:,1), BFOri(:,2), BFOri(:,3),CS,SS,'bunge');

These orientations you can annotate or plot the density of the ODF along those...

Hope this helps!

Best wishes,
Bernd

Is it possible to plot beta fibres with MTEX? For other fibres such as alpha or gamma it is rather easy, since 2 angles are fixed (and you described already how to plot them). Unfortunatelly for beta fibres it is not so easy, since alle 3 Euler Angles change.

Thank you
