WHAT’S NEW?

New splash page, allowing for loading of selected tabs to simplify workflow, and help with getting started.  New, extensive help sections and tutorials.

New Histogram page, allowing for creation and customization of grain and EBSD histograms, and exporting of histogram data.

New Live Observer tab, allowing for manual inspection of point orientations in terms of parameters, pole figures, and the crystal shape.

New Annotation option using automatically generated crystal shape.

Previously separate unit cell and annotation files are now integrated in the app, as are help files.

The pole figure default settings now cover more options.

New grains data export option, simplifying offline statistical analysis.

Grain boundary phase indexing bug fixed.

WHAT CAN I DO WITH THIS APP?

Test out MTEX functions using some sample datasets.

Plot EBSD, Grain and grain boundary maps, for some or all of the phases of your EBSD data.  These can show orientation, misorientation, or data quality information.

Plot pole figures of your data, contoured or coloured by orientation or data quality.

Inspect points on those maps manually, or annotate maps with various parameters.

Export data about the grains for later statistical analysis.  Export histogram data, sorted into bins.

HOW DO I USE THIS FILE?

Download the attached AnnotateR2p2.mlapp and open it with Matlab.  Requires MTEX version 5.

Hi Jessica,

In the previous release, there were 2 other files (Annotate.m and annotateUnitCell.m) in the folder, is the new release a standalone version or I have to put the above file in the old folder?

It should now be completely stand-alone!  Note that MTEX must be the current version.

Well, it's not working with MTEX 5.0.3 and MATLAB 2016b. I have added the directory to the Path.

This is the error message -

It was designed to run on Matlab 2018a, which explains that. I will make a version that runs on 2016b in a few days to make it more accessible to everyone.

Ah, that makes sense. Thank you for making a compatible version soon.

I think it will be better to keep the compatible MATLAB version 2 years back just so it covers most users, at the same time it can be run in latest MATLAB versions because of backward compatibility. :)

The revised version of the GUI that will run on MATLAB 2016b is now up.  Let me know how it works for you!

Jessica.

Thank you for making it 2106b supported, I was able to open it up, will report back here if there is an issue.

Just a heads-up, I have found the file @ResearchGate, the file was downloaded with a different long name and no extension so MTEX evoked error first. It is better to upload zipped file to avoid this to happen. :)
