I am currently working on Nickel superalloy data. To denoise the EBSD data I am using half quadratic filter. The default alpha value is 0.5, which is giving me a maximum KAM of 2.31 degrees. On the other hand, if I set the alpha value equal to 0.1, I get a KAM value of 2.49 degrees. What is the physical significance of this alpha value?
