How does MTEX calculates grains.area?

Can anyone explain how area of each grain is calculated in MTEX? Does it fit every grain inside a circle and reports the area of the circle, or treats every grain as a polygon and calculates the area?

Hi Mustafa,

As far as I am aware the area is calculated by the number of pixels contained within it's boundary. This along with the stepsize should allow calculation of the area (for ebsd data).
