 happy sankranti

Makar Sankranti is one of the only festivals in Hindu culture which falls on the same date, i.e., January 14. This festival is celebrated in India with great passion, fervor and devotion. For the Hindus, the festival is seen as an occasion that brings in light into their lives and eliminates darkness. As Hindus believe that Sun is a source of knowledge, wisdom and spiritual light, therefore Makar Sankranti holds a lot of importance for them.

On this occasion, people pray to the Sun to bring in more brightness and light into their lives and thus eliminate darkness, depression and delusion. It is also believed that worshipping Sun on this day, people grow in spirituality, wisdom and knowledge. This festival is of great importance to all the people and is known with different names in various parts of the countries. From North to South, people celebrate Makar Sankranti with different traditions in India.
