Internship at S4DS – Application Process

PURPOSE OF INTERNSHIPS:

We encourage applications from skilled and motivated young people to serve as interns at S4DS. The purpose of the internship is to provide an opportunity for individuals to substantively contribute to and learn from our work. The intern will be given specific tasks and responsibilities and will be challenged to develop their capabilities and gain experience. The intern is expected to be flexible and to take part in various activities at the office and sometimes in the field.

REQUIREMENTS:

Application from the following candidates are invited for this internship program:

• Under Graduates students
• Post Graduates students
• Research scholars

We are looking for interns who are committed, hard-working, positive, open-minded, reflective and willing to learn. At any one time we expect to host between two to three interns. We will seek to find a balance between Indian interns and those from other countries, and will look for a diversity of interests, backgrounds and experiences.

TIME LINE:

• Call for internship begins on 1^st July, 2019
• Last date to receive the internship application 31^st August, 2019
• Interview process begins 1^st September, 2019
• Internship period 6 months starting 1^st October, 2019

S4DS STIPEND:

A stipend of Rs. 50000.00 (Fifty Thousand) to will be paid to the intern of Indian National for the six months internship program. The breakup of the same will be as follows:

• Rs. 10000.00 after phase 1 i.e completion of the preliminary study.
• Rs. 10000.00 after phase 2 i.e completion of the implementation/experimental setup.
• Rs. 30000.00 final phase i.e on completion of the internship.

CONDITIONS:

• Selection of the interns will be purely on the basis of personal credentials, letter of recognition from Principal/Director and performance in the interview.
• The intern can operate in their own city and get associated with the relevant lab of his / her institute. The same needs to be notified to S4DS by the intern.
• The intern can also opt to pursue the internship in Pune, Kolkata or Delhi. The cost of the same should be borne by the intern. S4DS is not liable for the arrangement or payment of the accommodation in any case.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE:

Send the bio-data along with a cover letter explaining your motivation and a description of what you hope to achieve during your internship at S4DS. Specify your main skills and interests and relate them to our thematic areas of work.
