2. 2 JRF positions available under Centre for Research Excellence in Water (CORE) funded by BITS, Pilani
Two positions of Junior Research Fellows are available for a period of 3 years (2014-2017) starting March, 2014 a part of BITS, Pilani consortium project entitled “Development of a Field-deployable Biosensor for Bacterial sensing in potable water” in the Department of Chemistry and Biological Sciences, KK Birla Goa Campus.
Eligibility criteria:
Eligible candidates must have 1st class M.Sc./M.E./M.Tech (Microbiology/Medical Microbiology/Molecular Microbiology)/Chemistry/Biochemistry. Candidates with good knowledge and experience in water or diagnostic Microbiology/Biosensors/Surface chemistry will be preferred. Selected candidates will be offered Rs.16,000/- p.m. fellowship (consolidated).

3. JRF/SRF position available in CSIR sponsored project in Department of Chemistry
Applications are invited form the motivated candidates with Master degree in chemistry / equivalent degree in related fields, who want to pursue Ph.D. programme in synthetic organic chemistry / heterogeneous catalysis. He/She may be awarded fellowship from CSIR funded project entitled “Synthesis of Metal-Organic-Porous-Material Based Efficient Chiral Heterogeneous Catalysts by Post-Synthetic Modification and Their Applications in Asymmetric Reactions” (Project no. 02(0075)/12/EMR-II) according to his/her last qualification. Candidates with knowledge in material chemistry and hand-on experience in synthetic organic chemistry will be given precedence. About Principal Investigator: Dr. Narendra Nath Ghosh, Associate Professor of Chemistry at BITS Pilani, KK Birla Goa Campus, has received his MSc (1994) and PhD (1999) in Chemistry from IIT Kharagpur. He is former Post doctoral fellow of Univ. of Delaware (USA), Univ. of Tennessee- Knoxville (USA), University of Kentucky- Lexington (USA) and Visiting Research Professor of Drexel University (USA). His area of research interests are (i) Synthesis of nanostructured materials, (ii) advanced catalysis, (iii) polymer- ceramic nanocomposites. As of 2013 Dr. Ghosh and his colleagues have published more than 70 research papers in international journals, book chapters and international conference proceedings. He is associate editor of two International journals and reviewer of more than 30 international journals. Under his guidance 3 students have received PhD degree and two are pursuing their PhD program. Dr Ghosh is Principal investigator of number of sponsored research projects sponsored by DRDO, DST, BRNS, DST-UKIERI (Indo UN project), Royal Academy of Engineering, UK etc. He collaborates with the scientists from various reputed national universities and research organizations as well as international universities.
