Hi, I just wanted to share this with the group. I am running an ACER 710 computer (~1990) with 8088 CPU and DOS 3.3 operating system.

Attempting to connect with my FTP server at www.mtmscientific.com I was being presented with a prompt "UserID" which I would respond with my username and hit enter. At that point the computer would lock up and become unresponsive, requiring a hard reboot.

I looked online and saw that an issue had previously been reported with a TSR for power management.  As it so happens I do have a TSR running, which you vintage PC guys may know "DOSKEY". This TSR is not part of DOS 3.3, but I found a copy at www.minuszerodegrees.net and put it on my machine and have been using it.

Surprisingly the FTP Login issue went away when I removed the DOSKEY command from my AUTOEXEC.BAT  file.

I don't really consider this a bug, since I am have created a Frankenstein of sorts by mixing OS files.  Anyway, it is something you might try if you see this issue.

MTCP is the greatest BTW!  Michael

DOSKEY was included in later versions of DOS, and it has been in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file on my machines since the dawn of time.  I suspect the DOSKEY that you borrowed from another version of DOS isn't quite compatible with DOS 3.3.  You might look for an older version of 4DOS, which might provide similar command history functions.

Except for that, it sounds like things are good, so keep enjoying!
