Are there telnet or ssh servers available for DOS?  I have seen http, ftp, and others but not telnet or ssh, though I have seen plenty of clients. If these don't exist, are there other viable remote access host server options available for DOS?

Best Regards,

Other people have written remote access tools for DOS, but I don't have one yet for mTCP.

Look at some of these:

Mike,

Thanks, I have been trying out rmenu first. It does work! I could probably do what I want that way. I will look into the others also. It just surprised me that actual telnet and ssh host programs for DOS had not emerged yet. rmenu is talking on telnet protocol, i think, at least the port so I guess it kind of counts as that. Would an ssh host for DOS based on openSSH be just too intensive for the DOS environment, because of handling the encryption? Thanks for the feedback, very much appreciated!  Your work on the mTCP stack is excellent and I am trying parts of it now that I have a working TCP/IP DOS system. I must say that this has been a real blast!

Mike,

I think since most of my aim with a telnet or ssh connection to a DOS system would be to administrate that system remotely, that I can accomplish a lot of that with a combination of tools already in mTCP such as the FTP/FTPSRV, HTGET/HTTPSERV, and NC utilities. I have been studying NC a bit, and oh my ...

Hey Bill and Mike

Following this discussion, as I had similar thoughts about remote terminal access to a DOS system. Thanks for sharing the links. I was not aware of these projects.

Wanted to let you know I got rmtdos (https://github.com/dennisjenkins75/rmtdos/working on my HP 200LX (MS-DOS 5). I compiled and tested 'rmtdos-client' on both Ubuntu (x86_64) and Raspberry Pi (aarch64).

Keep up the great work!

Cheers

Alex

Just to clarify, rmtdos is not my work.  But I know the culprit. ;-0

I passed the feedback onto him.
