I have been following pChart for a while now and was interested to see
this fork of the project for many reasons (the cleaner API, etc.). I
was also hoping that the license would not be GPL, as this prevents me
from integrating either library into my existing projects. What are
the chances of a BSD/MIT style license being made available for this
project? This would not only (obviously) enable me to use this in my
projects easily, but would also make me quite happy to contribute to
the project in whatever way I can :)

Look forward to any response!

Hello Ian,

I, as the author of mtChart, am unable to change its license to
anything other than GPL since the original work (pChart) is
GPL-licensed. I tried to convince the author of pChart to grant me a
LGPL, but he was not willing to do so.

So, sorry, no can do. For the moment, mtChart remains GPL.

Christian,

Thanks for the quick reply... that's a shame.  Any particular reason why he wasn't willing to do so, or are we unfortunately stuck with GPL for the time being?

Not a particular one, he just doesn't want it to disappear into a
commercial package somewhere.

I'll keep on asking for a change. But for the time being, GPL it is.
