Hi All,
I live out at Estella and i was wondering if anyone knew of any hills
around that take about 10min (or as close at possible) to ride up
(road or MTB) at a steady pace of around 20-25km/hr?

The uni winery has a nice one but is half the length of what i want,
Cartwrights Hill is about the same and has too many trucks. Any ideas
would be greatly appreciated.

The other question would be...What do others do to get better at
climbing and build those climbing legs?? I plan on riding alot down at
Falls and Mt Beauty this year but dont want to get smoked straight
away. I need to do some building beforehand.

Thanks guys,
Shane

G'day Shane,

The hill that got me into liking to climb was the hardest climb at Pomingalarna. It is the fireroad starting from the small gate in the northern end of the golf course fence. I found it especially good as it gets steeper the closer to the top. You can either head down the fireroad or the downhill on the 6hr track and repeat or put in a bit of a lap in between climbs to mix it up a bit and make more interesting. I really believe if you can ride this one well you can ride pretty much any climb.

Another option is Willans Hill which is all about hard ups if you want to take on what most do as downs.

For the road you have Malebo Hill near Estella on the Old Narrandera Road.

None of these are 20-25km/hr hills but if you can ride these repeatedly on a single ride you should be able to ride any hill around Falls and Mt Beauty.

Michael
PS Contact me if you want to give these a go.
