The calendar_dates.txt file is missing from the static subway gtfs file that was posted on the MTA website on Fri, 21 Feb 2025 13:21:54 GMT. The calendar.txt file indicates there are only 3 service id's:

Sunday,0,0,0,0,0,0,1,20250222,20250518
Saturday,0,0,0,0,0,1,0,20250222,20250518
Weekday,1,1,1,1,1,0,0,20250222,20250518

The indicated time period 22 Feb 2025 to 18 May 2025 includes Easter, Passover, the NYC schools spring recess and the start of the baseball season. These events have previously resulted in planned schedule adjustments that were incorporated into either additional service id's or entries into the calendar_dates.txt files.

The lack of a calendar_dates.txt file implies there will be no scheduled maintenance starting or ending during this time period.

Is this correct?

My mistake.
calendar_dates is conditionally optional. I don't know whether this was always true.

My import program into a postgresql database was written back around 2013 and is a kludge. My workaround was simply to write a calendar_dates.txt file with a header and no data. My program accepted it and rewriting it will stay on the back burner.
