Can't match MNR static data with GTFS feed

The static stop_times.txt file for Metro North contains very long trip_ids (e.g. 245999724600002+306082+0) which, from what I can tell, has the calendar date followed by some sort of sequence number. However, the GTFS feed just has a short id (e.g. 599), but I can't make heads or tails on how these are supposed to relate to one another. I can figure out the calendar date, but the trip ids have me completely lost.

For the record, the two example above are the same trip schedule. No idea what's going on here.

p.s. - The stop_times.txt is 30 MB (!!) Please someone fix this; it used to be ~8 MB. LIRR data is much cleaner.
