Hello,

We noticed that there is a transfer in the subway GTFS between northbound and southbound trains at 50 St (A25), even though it appears that this transfer does not exist - users must exit the station and pay a second fare to complete this journey.

transfers.txt currently shows:

from_stop_id,to_stop_id,transfer_type,min_transfer_time
A25,A25,2,180

It could be replaced with:

from_stop_id,to_stop_id,transfer_type,min_transfer_time
A25N,A25N,2,30
A25S,A25S,2,30
A25S,A25N,3
A25N,A25S,3

There are additional stops where an in-system transfer between different directions is not possible, and the information in transfers.txt is erroneous - for example, 627 (77 St). However, the erroneous transfer at A25 is particularly problematic as trip planners that rely on the MTA's GTFS are directed to show transfers between the branching A/C and E trains at 50 St, when users should instead transfer at 42 St-Times Sq.

Best,
Stephen

Hello

Am I correct in thinking this is still something affecting the GTFS data but doesnt seem to affect MTAs own journey planner?

Thanks

I don't see a single instance in the transfers.txt file where direction designation is assigned to either side of the entry.
I do see A25 and 677 are also still listed in the file.
For A25,  direction designations could be used.
For 677, I'm assuming it's because the 4 train stops late at night and/or the express 6 stops, so you could switch from local to express there, but again, direction designations would help.
