GIT GUI Error on commit. 'Child Process Exited Abnormally'

I use GIT GUI on windows, I use the windows right-click context menu, 'GIT GUI here'

I was on GIT 1.8.4.

I frequently get an error message while performing commits from the GIT GUI which says:

child process exited abnormally

child process exited abnormally

    while executing

"close $fd_ot"

    (procedure "commit_committree" line 23)

    invoked from within

"commit_committree file30cb8d8 c8d1090e4aef6ff22a6f4286a452a8b8e0b955cd .git/GITGUI_EDITMSG"

I get the same error even if I upgrade to GIT 1.9.2

I've also started getting this exact error. I too was using 1.8.4 and upgrading to 1.9.2 didn't help. If it helps to diagnose the cause, I have just upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1. I may also have run Git Gui escalated to Administrator and made a commit, but I still get this error every time whether I'm running it as administrator or not.

Did you ever find a solution to this, Anand?
