This sounds like a question for TortoiseGit; Git for Windows / msysGit
/ Git-Cheetah / Git GUI doesn't do icon-overlays.

Git for Windows (what you called "msysgit") is a port of Git to the
Windows platform, striving to eventually get fully merged back to the
mainline. So no, Git for Windows does not know anything about
icon overlays as Git itself does not know anything about them.

At the same time, Git for Windows is shipped with its own Explorer
shell extension called "Git Cheetah" which might be responsible for
that identifier.
