PFA the following documents and instructions regarding the pre-submission seminar:
- My synopsis report (PDF)
- Dr. Sini Mathew's synopsis for her PhD research (PDF)
(The synopsis report is same as pre-submission report, for the sake of clarity.)
The pre-submission report should include all chapters including result and discussion.
The format to be followed for the pre-submission presentation (which will take place in front of the external faculty, guides and fellow students) are as follows:
The presentation should have a cover page with the following details:
- Title of the research
- Research Guide
- Programme of study (say MA Social Work in Mental Health)
- Name of the student
- Enrolment Number
The presentation should continue with the following sections:
- Brief Abstract of 100 – 150 words
- Introduction (with significance and scope of the study)
- Literature review (highlight key debates and gaps)
- Objectives
- Methodology – type of study / design (quantitative/qualitative/mixed), sampling, sampling criteria, tool/tools used, & data analysis plan
- Key Findings
- Scope and Limitations of study
- Ethical concerns and how these were addressed (should be covered very briefly)
- Reference list (need not be the final list as further references may be added subsequently)
Details regarding the pre-submission seminar:- You will submit a soft copy of your pre-submission report on the date given (to be intimated after finalizing discussion with TISS, but it might be within the next week or so.)
- You will submit a hard copy before your presentation.
- It should be 15 minutes presentation and thereafter 10 minutes discussion with external and central faculty.
- Not more than 15 slides should be inlcuded in the presentation.
- Students will be timed during the presentation and asked to stop once the stipulated time is over.
- Student is expected to make a note of feedback received at the presentation and discuss with guide before finalizing their report.
Please keep working on your theses and keep regular contact with your guides to ensure successful submission of your hard work.
