NERVA has released a new rule regarding youth players in adult tournaments that takes effect immediately.  MSVBA is a division that falls under the umbrella of NERVA, therefore this rule has an effect on our tournament and youth participation.

Rule: No player under the age of 19 may play in a NERVA adult tournament without a waiver from the adult commissioner.

NERVA has provided the following reasons for implementing this rule:

·         Youth players have opportunities to play in JO tournaments and shouldn’t displace adult teams from adult tournaments

·         Players under the of 19 are not allowed to play in USAV adult events

·         Adult players should not have to worry about hurting an opponent because the opponent is entered in an inappropriate tournament level

·         Collegiate coaches should not have to worry about whether or not to play if it would violate NCAA rules

·         Tournament directors and officials do not have to be background checked, be impact certified, or be SafeSport certified.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may create for the upcoming tournaments and appreciate your cooperation in enforcing this rule.
