Skeptical Inquirer Presents: Melanie Trecek-King

A Field Guide to Spotting Misinformation

with Melanie Trecek-King

Skeptical Inquirer Presents | TONIGHT (April 16)

For most of human history, survival depended on two things: group loyalty and split-second decisions. Today, those same ancient instincts are plugged into a network of billions of strangers and an endless stream of content. Deception is a universal survival strategy in nature; by understanding how the rapid pace of technology has outpaced our evolved defenses, we can see misinformation not as a personal failure, but as a biological challenge.

Join us TONIGHT (April 16) at 7:00 p.m. ET for a Skeptical Inquirer Presents livestream with CSI Fellow Melanie Trecek-King. Drawing on her upcoming book, A Field Guide to Spotting Misinformation, Trecek-King places our modern misinformation crisis into a biological and historical context. She’ll explore how our ancient hardware makes us vulnerable and provides the practical tools we need to navigate the digital age without getting played.
