Dear Dinesh Sir,
There is no second thought about the idea that you have suggested. It is absolutely necessary to attract young people towards solving problems.
But the major drawback of this idea is the illusion among teachers whether a good number of children could solve these daily set of problems many of which need logical as well as magical approaches. I too had hit upon this idea sometimes ago, but all my attempts yielded approximately zero progress towards rendering my student "maths friendly". Some students even developed a type of aversion towards solving these problems and eventually I managed to stop giving tricky questions for the fear that it may further setback my genuine efforts. I think I have to start it again after the gap of nearly five years.
My request to you all is to post very "simple and humanly possible to solve problems " on a daily basis to assist transformation of students mindset.
Regards. Please comment on my post.
Dear all,
I don't it is better to leave the topic under discussion halfway through. Presently we are forum of more than 170 members and only two or three have managed to respond and the rest have felt it is not a problem to discuss with the forum! Forum is here for discussion and to find a solution for the impending issues at schools, but many members I think unable to write because of different reasons: one being unable to access internet and the worst being unable to put the matter into words!
Daily we read several pages in a single issue of newspaper, all written by people comparatively less educated than teachers. But surprisingly, all the text we have written to this forum put to together, may not exceed even a single sheet of paper. I couldn't find answer to this. I am a member of both state English and maths-science stf. I could see more mathematics and science members writing more than half a page in a single post, for issues like that is raised by our respected subject inspector but very low number of posts and responses from the members of forum of English STF. One thing I could gather from being a long time member of these forums is that teachers write less! One of the reason for this situation is that they don't have enough time to spend for the forum!
As everyone knows, teachers have a wide and varied experience that can be shared among themselves through the forums created for exchanging knowledge, skill , resources etc. This can be highly helpful in solving issues they individually face within classrooms, moreover, this would do its best in stamping out monotony that affect our teaching that has an expansion over a period of time we don't have enough external contacts with our fellow teachers.
Friends, let us come out of the shell of such indifference and share our classroom experience( mostly the product of the interactions with our students ) with all the members of the forum. This would affect our teaching a lot, and paves the way for better understanding among ourselves and qualitative improvements in teaching.
Please write more. Please don't let SMS type of language in the forum to safeguard our prestige as teachers. I will write in response to Radhakrishna Sir's post " how to create science and maths atmosphere within school campus" quoting how my science teachers could render me science-tempered during and after my education( and my eventual failure in in convincing my students on being science tempered civilians) Before that I look forward to read some post.
Regards.

(I am very sorry that I omitted some important words in my last post, which could make a sense. I am not using computer for emailing these days)
Thank you Sadashiva Sir, for giving us the first account of your suggestions. I hope you will shortly render another article how you have popularized science among your students. I am of the view that if science teachers couldn't do a wonderful job in setting all the anomalies right. Unless we transform our students mentality, nothing could we achieve in the field as science teachers. Recently the learning of science in schools and colleges has become stimulus for getting engineering places in reputed colleges, but it will never serve the purpose with which we began learning science: we can not make any break through in the field of science. We should never confine our students to the lower ends like getting more marks and eventually a job to survive. I have a lot of evidence that the person scored highest in science finds it very hard to come out of the dogmas and blind beliefs. I am of the opinion that science learning in India has never made headway with bigger researches...( here we learn science to make living, not life! ).
There are more and more to explain why we have not able to get Nobel prizes after independence though the Pakistanis have at least one in the recent history. The reason why we have come to such a bad situation is that the onslaught of our petty goals and petty objectives that eventually land us in a place where we forgotten our national goals!
Below is a link connecting you to the list of countries with their share of Nobel prizes.

My intention with this mail is not to delimit their stimulus for creative thinking. Freedom of thought is more important than freedom of speech!
Regards.
Dear friends I would like to response by some words for the question given by our maths sub inspector R.K Sir First of all teachers should show interest in maths and science field. While teaching the subject we should not stick on to the actual concept. In some interested concepts we should go beyond the concept. We can give some projects or ask the students to collect some more details about some concepts in maths as well as in science. For example; Operation on alpha numbers is a new topic in 8th std maths. In order to create interest and make the concept familiarise we have to give some interesting problems like ONE+ ONE -------- TWO -------- SEND+ MORE ---------- MONEY ------------
'Unless we transform our students mentality, nothing could we achieve in the field as science teachers.'
As the mentality itself is an obstacle, which consequentially induces the thoughts and norms of attaining career achievements. The bargain of commerce makes the Science poor! And the nobility of science was totally ignored (rather abandoned) because of the fear of uncertainty of ones' own future.
Radhakrishna Sir's referred quote: 'Atmosphere' of Science .... itself says the very nature of Psycho-social behavior of learning individuals exhibited towards Science and Maths ;making social mentality, resulting in a confined atmosphere.
Therefore, it needs no speech or orientations, but transformation of viewpoints of individuals to bring that atmosphere.
It was said that, As Science advanced, the civilizations emerged. It was science and technology that directly influenced the economy and social life so far in all the civilizations and in all the history of mankind.
If science can impact social life, then it becomes the responsibility of the people of science to make it influence in a right manner. We shall understand the social responsibility of Science teachers in bringing transformation. Then it would mean right with saying 'Science and maths atmosphere'.
Ok, the Question - answers may continue, I have tried to focus my views to analyze it in this way.
I hope it will help someone to decide what to do.
Thank you Radhakrishna Sir for bringing such a good thought.
