How did you feel about the situation in 1984, the society doesn't have the 1st amendment, which means they aren't able to have the freedom of speech, have their own religion, freedom of the press, and are not able to have feelings with the same or different gender?

I felt it was unfair, but then again back in the days, there were a lot of countries who didn't have freedom. Even now, there are people who live in countries that aren't allowed to have certain rights that deal with freedom. But the setting in this book was a little different; people were restricted of so much more than what happened in real life. For example, like Isabel mentioned, people weren't allowed to love someone after they had a wife, for example.

I agree with Faviola that the situation in 1984 was definitely unfair. I don't think its fair for the government to have complete control over anyone's predicament. They had no freedom even though it was technically granted to them in the Constitution.  I feel as though it does portray many of the problems that happen in today's time. Governments in other countries besides the United States do control their citizens. They can even kill someone for having feelings for their same gender.
