Analyse Lieutenant Henry and Catherine Barkley's love story. How do you think their love story would change if it were during a different time period like now? What would change? Why? (Note: The book was during World War 1)

I'd say their love would be greater since in this time period there's medicine, better technology, and people who are more open minded on situations. Catherine would have not died with the baby and could have had happy ending with Lieutenant, but then theirs a possibility on emotions as a human. The course of actions such as a man seeing another women or not loving this women such as Catherine since in this time period there are not a lot of "men" who would actually stick by their family's which could have caused a different ending.

I'm agree with Isabel, if any of them are sick , they could use the new technology in medicine that now exists, preventing any issue or diseases that they could have during their lives as family.I think their love story will be easier and could grow even more. Their love will be possible and accepted because the current society is trying to respect the decisions of everyone on any kind of relationship that they may have. But I considered that their love will be faced with a big challenge from their time period.Because now women have rights and they can work and have other duties at home too. Which will be a little displeasure for Lieutenant Henry, but with that love that shows through her , I think he would give her rights as a women and wife.  Considering this , if they had to travel far for work commitments , they could be found easier with social networks that now exist. It could be easy to create an account on Facebook , for example, and keep in touch every day. Also they could call throughout facetime in their smart phones, thus they will not feel a lot of distance between them. Thus I believe that their love story could change in our current time period.

In regards to their love and deep feelings for each other, I don't think their love would've changed that much. I think it would've been stronger if Henry wasn't in the war. If he would've been present during her pregnancy stages and not fighting on the front, they would've had a stronger bond than they already have. Thus, they both wouldn't have felt as distant from each other. They both were deeply in love and personally, I don't think anything could've changed it. The period of time they spent together was very worth wild and I'm sure they both still deeply loved each other despite Catherine and the baby's death.

Nothing would have changed in heir love story. Regardless of what time period it is, their love was destined to be a tragic one.Despite the war going on, Henry got his sanity from just being with Catherine, it was as if the war wasn't going on and nothing else really mattered to them because they had each other and hey love sustained them, their love gave Henry that orderliness that he needed during a time period of war therefore, i dont think a physical time change would have brought a different twist to their love than it already was.
