Hello MSSA members,

As vice commodore Ken wrote, I will be the Race Official for the Barrister Cup.  I know that it’s early in the season and many boats aren’t in the water. If you plan on racing can you please send me a note?

The MSSA calendar has the race start at 1400.  Do you want a 1400 start time, or would noon be better? As of right now the wind forecast is for light wind in the afternoon.

Thanks, and i hope to see you on the water Saturday.

Barry

Organized Chaos plans to race. We need the time to prep if possible.

Barry , 🐊 will race and prefer the noon start if possible, but can work with either time especially if there is better wind at one of the times.
Thanks ,
John

Hello again

The Barrister Cup will be tomorrow at 1400. The wind forecast is for east wind, not very strong.  The race marks are not in yet so I will drop a temporary mark at “M”.  Please listen to vhf 72 for announcements. Remember to announce your finish time on vhf and to email your finish time to sco...@mssa.org

Barry

Hello MSSA members,

The first race of the season was a big success. Four boats raced: Sound’s Great, Rode Trip, Crocodile, and Organized Chaos. The race started with sun and east winds around 5 kts.  The course was M J H S, upwind to J, the green can off Rocky Point, downwind to the can off mt. Misery shoal, then upwind to the finish.

On the upwind leg the shore side was favored. Organized Chaos rounded first, followed by Rode Trip. Sound’s great rounded, the Crocodile.  The downwind run started slow, with 5-6 kts true.  The spinnaker boats (Crocodile and Sound’s Great) had the advantage over the non spin boats and started to leg out. Sound’s Great jibed back towards shore, looking for more wind.  Then the wind quickly changed.  From E at 5 the wind clocked to SSW at 8.  We tried to keep the chute up but the angle was too tight. So we unrolled the Genoa and dropped the chute.  All boats the had a nice run around the mark and another upwind leg to the finish.

All in all a great way to start the racing season.
