Lightning strike

Hi All

My boat Windchaser was hit by lightning yesterday. Lost my instruments, some lights, stereo, tach, dc-dc charger, mppt solar controller, tank monitor, panel lights, all four shroud grounding cables are melted off at the keel bolt connections, Windex...so far. Any advice is appreciated. I have contacted insurance. If your boat is near Windchaser I would check it. Nothing obviously damaged on other boats from my vantage point.

Sorry to hear. We were on our boat last night (southeastern part of the mooring field) and watched the storm roll in from our enclosure. I think I know the bolt…… it’s then that we went below. It was a very electrical storm.

Insurance will walk you through. Sounds like you will need a good rigger (Nick) and a marine electrician to rewire your boat and install all new electronics.

Dont forget to check your through hull fittings especially if they are all bonded.
