American Cancer Society- Navigator's Cup

Hello All,

As you may have seen in earlier emails, the 45th American Cancer Society
Regatta is on for Saturday, September 19th. There will be many
differences in this year's event, one of which is the introduction of
the Navigator's Cup. Although we have had a Navigator's Class in
previous regatta's, this will be the first time we have had a perpetual
trophy to award.

All season long, we have had some very nice turnout for the Navigator's
Pursuit Races. With this class gaining popularity, it seems appropriate
to establish the Navigator's Cup perpetual trophy.

The Navigator's Class is a pursuit style race, with boat's starting
based on their PHRF ratings, then converging towards, the finish. This
provides exciting racing without the pressure of crowded start lines.

Boats that have been sailing in this class throughout the Spring and
Summer, will tell you how much fun this style of racing can be.

Fortunately, there are still 2 Pursuit Races being conducted before the
ACS Regatta. The Port Jefferson Yacht Club has the "It's Not Over Yet"
series, with races being conducted on Tuesday Evenings, 9/8, 9/15 and
9/22. It is open to anyone, regardless of club affiliation, and it is FREE!

If you are interested in racing in the ACS Regatta Navigator's Class,
why not get your boat and crew out get some practice on Tuesday nights.
