The race has been abandoned.  I also made the announcement earlier on VHF, channel 72.

That was a wise decision based on the amount of lightening we saw. Looks like it was directly over the harbor.

There is a great Photo of the lighting strike posted to the FaceBook page. It looks like it strikes very close to race mark M if not directly on it. Im not a scientist but I am wondering if its possible the exposed chain on the race mark is enough to create a direct path to ground and can attract a lightening strike. Any scientists in the club?
