Hi Shirley,

I get disconnected about once every two or three months when there are server problems. I hope you solve your particular connection issue. The following may help.

Uncheck the "disconnect if idle" box in three places.

1. Internet Explorer

desktop icon, right click, properties, connection tab.
2. MSN connection manager settings, when you go to sign on hit Cancel (if it has started to dial, otherwise you don't need to hit Cancel) and then Settings.
3. My Computer, Dial Up Networking, right click on the MSN connectoid and choose properties, configure button, connection tab.

For Dial-up Networking double-click DUN in My Computer, right-click the MSN connection and choose Properties. Click Settings, Connection tab to find the 'idle' check box.

Right-click

the IE desktop icon, choose Properties, Connection tab.

IE5

In the dial up settings box click/advanced, uncheck "disconnect if idle box" ok/ok/apply

IE4

Click on the Settings button next to connect using a modem to find the Disconnect if idle check box which should be clear.

I am getting so frustrated with MSN.  It continually disconnects when I am
using both e-mail and internet.  I have read some of the messages that
suggest how this might be fixed (1 from Sydney and 1 from MSN) Followed all
the steps ....and still get disconnected continually.  One suggestion I
could not follow was  to turn off the "disconnect if idle"  Was unable to
find where to perform this task.
