Getting a good image of the plantar fascia

I don't know if it's just me or does everyone have a hard time getting a good image of this?  I've read that because the skin is so thick that the sound waves don't penetrate well.  It seems like the longer I leave the probe on the better the image gets (could be the gel softening the skin or just my imagination).  I've tried both probes and right now the best I can get is with my straight probe turned down to low freq with alot of gain.
