Hi everyone,
Thank you all for a wonderful season! We were able to build four rockets between our two teams and also launched a couple. We're planning to hold additional outreach events later this year at Hopkins but for now we are excited pass TARC off to a new pair of officers.
There are two open (co-president) positions for MSJ TARC next year. Formal descriptions follow:
The Director of Operations will be responsible for managing the progression and operation of all teams under MSJ TARC. This includes but is not limited to the following: guiding teams in building effective construction and organization skills, assisting team captains with the management of their teams, helping teams design rockets through OpenRocket, determining logistics for launches, team registration, and scheduling build / progress meetings during the summer and school year.
The Director of Outreach will be responsible for all media and outreach programs related to MSJ TARC. This includes but is not limited to the following: updating and maintaining the Facebook page and Google group, managing fundraising events, holding outreach events at local elementary schools, and new member recruitment through the annual Hopkins presentation and Maze day.
To apply for either, email me (schan...@gmail.com) and CC Maggie (maggie...@gmail.com) the following no later than 11:59pm PST on Wednesday, May 22th.
MANDATORY:
- Title the email: "[TARC] Officer Application - <position> - <your name>". For example: [TARC] Officer Application - Director of Operations - Richard Hendricks.
- A brief statement of interest (≤ 250 words). Suggestions for what to include: how you've contributed to MSJ TARC, concrete examples of why you’re the best candidate for the position you’re applying for, why you’re interested in being an officer, or ideas for next year.
- Your summer availability, class schedule for next year, and a list of the activities that you plan on participating in. This includes other clubs (specify potential/confirmed officerships), weekend activities, sports, and other extracurriculars.
OPTIONAL (but highly recommended):
- A one-page resume that includes relevant STEM courses taken and associated grades, extracurricular activities (including leadership and volunteer positions), projects / awards, and any other information you feel is relevant. PDF preferred, please attach to email.
Again, applications must be submitted by 11:59pm PST on Wednesday, May 22th.
If you have any questions, please email me or Maggie. Good luck!
Best regards,
Sophie Chan and Maggie Yu
