so people
many of you were asking about what are the credits mentioned in our
syllabus all about.so here it is..... credits are actually a measure
of how important the subject is when it comes to calculating the
overall percentage of the semester. Eg. a 4 credit course( like maths)
will have more weightage than a 3 credit course(chemistry) when
percentage is calculated.
PLEaSE NOTE: passing in a subject/lab will earn the full credits
asscociated with it.
but marks will determine the % along with credits.
FORMULA :
(mks of sub '1' ) X (credits of sub '1' )+ ..... + (mks of sub 'N' ) X
(crdts of sub 'N')
__________________________________________________________________
crdts of sub '1' + crdts of sub '2' + ........... +crdts of sub 'N'
suppose you have only two courses both theory. one is maths of 4
credits while other one is MP of 2 credits.
so if you score 80 in maths and 60 in MP it will be better because it
will give overall marks of 440 and % (440/7) i.e. 62.85% but if you
score the other i.e. 60 in math and 80 in MP then your total score
will be 400 and % will be 57.14..........
so you see its important to score better in heavy credit subjects
you can find the no. of credits for each subjects in this PDF (there
'C' stands for credits )
http://ipu.ac.in/syllabus/btechct1st_220907.pdf
>>>'T/P' stands for tutorial and practice which we haven't experienced because
"HAMARA TO COURSE HI KHATAM NAHI HOTA KABHI" ....
--------some VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION---------------
the total no credits in all four years including labs are "214"..
however IP will award you a degree if you earn "200" or more
credits...
it means you can drop (fail, and then never pass :D) subjects/labs
worth 14 credits at the most.
so choose carefully because the placement guys won't mind you having
DROPPED subjects like MP or ED but they surely will not tolerate
dropping MATHS...
that's it...........
