Nobody ever asked for this. However, I could not resist my urge, as it's a marvellous melody. Amazing is Lata's voice!!

There's a Rafi version of this song, with changed wordings (Aji hum se bach kar kahan jaayiyega). That version is sort of fun-filled or frivolous.

The main actors are Sadhana Shivadasani and Rajendra Kumar.

Song: Aji rooth kar ab kahan jaayiyega
Movie: Aarzoo (1965)
Singer: Lata Mangeshkar
Lyrics: Hasrat Jaipuri
Music: Shankar Jaikishan

aji rooth kar ab kahaan jaaiyega
jahaan jaaiyega humein paaiyega

nigaahon se chhupkar dikhaao to jaane
khayaalon men bhi tum na aao to jaane
aji laakh parda men chhup jaaiyega
nazar aaiyega nazar aaiyega

jo dil men hain hothon pe laana bhi mushkil
magar us ko dil men chhupaana bhi mushkil
nazar ki zubaan phir samajh jaaiyega
samajh kar zara gaur farmaaiyega

Breaking away from me, where will you go?
Wherever you'll go, you'll inevitably find me there

If you hide from my eyes, I become aware
If you don't appear in my thoughts, I sense it
You may hide behind oodles of screens
Yet you'll be conspicuous to me

It's hard to bring what's in the heart on to the lips
But it's also hard to conceal it within the heart
You may fathom the language of the eyes
Having done that, please express  a wee bit of care

Wee.. that was for 'zara'. Couldn't find a better word.

Sunny, your taste when it comes to Hindi film classics is awesome!!

We are fortunate that we have all these great songs for our listening pleasure.. One of Rafi Saab's romantic solos

Rightly said, Sunny. And what you've mentioned explains why I haven't been following the junk excreted by the new age MDs in the last decade!

Yes, Suresh. Let us have a romantic solo. (Stevie do not come after me for saying this.)

Is this the season for romantic solos? Then you'll have plenty of them. Sunny already suggested one, which is a lovely track.

Good one Suresh.I thought it was 'zara' that became 'wee' .Sunny is right!
A typical 60s Hindi song sequence but without the inevitable  Pran standing in the corner biting to his cigar and going green with envy
For Kuttyettan's romantic mood I'd also suggest-

'Zindagi bhar nahi boolegi'
Tere Husun ki kya thaareef karun'
Na thum hame jaano
Tere mere sapne ab ek rang hai

Goodness me! I was thinking of a super romantic duet for the last 2-3 days and you have it in your list!

Teri husn ki kya taareef karoon
Kuch kahte huey bhi dartha hoon
Kahi bhool se tu na samajh baithe
Ke main tujh se mohabbat karta hoon

Dilip Kumar & Vyjayantimala. The latter looks so pretty that the lyricist is justified!!!
