A story of rebirth (like Mehbooba)...

There is a female version, sung by the classical vocalist Parveen Sultana. It's awesome!!!

Song: Humein tumse pyaar kitna
Movie: Kudrat (1981)
Singer: Kishore Kumar
Lyrics: Anand Bakshi
Music: RD Burman

Humein Tumse Pyaar Kitna Yeh Hum Nahin Jaante
Magar Jee Nahin Sakte Tumhaare Bina

Suna Gham Judaai Ka Uthaate Hai Log
Jaane Zindagi Kaise Bitaate Hai Log
Din Bhi Yahaan To Lage Baras Ke Samaan
Hume Intezaar Kitna Yeh Hum Nahin Jaante
Magar Jee Nahin Sakte Tumhaare Bina

Tumhe Koyi Aur Dekhe To Jalta Hai Dil
Badi Mushkilon Se Phir Sambhalta Hai Dil
Kya Kya Jatan Karte Hai Tumhe Kya Patha
Yeh Dil Beqraar Kitna Yeh Hum Nahin Jaante
Magar Jee Nahin Sakte Tumhaare Bina
--------------------------------------------------------------------
You have no idea as to how much I love you,
Got to say I can't live without you

I've heard of people bearing the grief of separation
I wonder how those people spend their lives
Each day here seems like a year
You have no idea as to how much i wait for you
Got to say I can't live without you

If someone else looks at you, my heart begins to burn
With great difficulty I get to control my heart
Do you know how much effort goes into that?
You have no idea as to how restless my heart is,
Got to say I can't live without you

This is great. The other version is beautiful, too, as you said. Thanks, Suresh!

To be honest, the Parveen Sultana version sounds better (with all respect for Kishore Kumar)

The background dancers in the clip are not bad, either. :)

Anand Bakshi's first appearance in the blog. He was the common man's poet. Wrote some beautiful songs in simple language...

Sunny, he might have been prolific, but I don't rate him very highly.

'Magar' means 'but'.

I had never seen any sense in using 'but' where it was not required.

Hence I dropped it.

i feel 'but' has its importance. "he doesn't know anything BUT only knows that he cant live without her. "

Hume Intezaar Kitna Yeh Hum Nahin Jaante - You have no idea as to how much i wait for you
shouldn't i be I never knew how much i waited for you

Magar Jee Nahin Sakte Tumhaare Bina  - BUT i know i can't love without you

This one was not a difficult one to understand.
May be that's why you call AB a poor man's poet-
even a poor Hindi's poet

The version sung by Kishore Kumar has been attributed to Anand Bakshi as far as lyrics go; the one by Parveen Sultana seems to be written by Majrooh Sultanpuri!

That's a gross mistake. I've seen the movie and there no two versions of Kishore Kumar singing the same song.
