Invitation for State Level Muslim Women Conference - Preparatory Meeting

Dear Friends,

Aawaaz-e-Niswan is inviting you for a preparatory meeting on the 3rd & 4th March 2012 in Mumbai.  As you are aware and part of Muslim Women Rights Network (MWRN) which is working for past ten years.  This is an autonomous campaign actively working and organizations nationally are part of this network which meets every year.

 

This meeting will be a State level Muslim Women's conference and the tentative agenda for the meeting is as follows:

 

  • Socio Economic issues of Muslim Women in urban and rural cities
  • Situation of Muslim women in the context of communalism and discriminations
  • Impact of Muslim Personal Law and Religious Institutions on women
  • Role of state machineries and right wing groups

 

The meeting will start at 11.00 a.m. on March 3, 3012 at Aawaaz-e-Niswaan, 47/1/ Sarabhai Hasanali Roopwala, Near M.P. Municipal School, M.P. Marg (Pipe Road), Kurla W, Mumbai 70.  We request you to send the activist working with Muslim women.  The accommodation will be at Aawaaz-e-Niswan office and requesting to contribute Rs. 150/- towards the food.

 

We would request you to confirm your participation and share your ideas and suggestions.

Dear Nasim, Saira and Razia,
I am glad to learn that there will be a state level muslim women's conference to be held shortly.  Please inform us the results of your deliberations and the areas you feel that govt needs to pay more attention. Recently i had also received an e mail about stopping female genital mutilation among Bohras. Please see whether you can enquire whether this is a practise which is active and if so please take some do some advocacy against it.
