Dear,

In the past, you have applied to study a Photonics Master of Science at Ghent University/Vrije Universiteit Brussel and therefore we would like to ask you a favour. Could you spread the info/message below and attached flyer among final year BSc. or MSc. students of your home (or current) university. If you still have some good connections with local staff members, ask them to spread this info.

As you may notice, we have 'merged' our 2 English-taught programs, European (Erasmus Mundus) MSc. in Photonics (EMSP/EMMP) and our local UGent-VUB MSc. in Photonics Engineering (MSPE) into one program with the best features of both. Due to our new mobility features, we've decided to keep the name European MSc. in Photonics.

Best regards and thanks,
Bert Coryn
Photonics Program Officer

Study Photonics in Belgium/Europe

At Ghent University (UGent, Belgium) and Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB, Belgium), we jointly offer the European MSc. in Photonics (EMSP), an English-taught two-year Master of Science program in Photonics. Visit www.masterphotonics.be and find out about the program, the admission requirements and application procedure.

The EMSP:
  • Teaches students all the core photonics courses
  • Offers advanced and specialized photonics courses
  • Has a strengthened focus on:
    • Photonics skills (measurement, engineering, research skills)
    • Employability (business economics, industrial internship, entrepreneurship, photonics in industry)
  • Includes a master thesis project in a research lab
  • Has an optional internal mobility component in year 1 and a mandatory external European mobility component in year to, to be realised by choosing one of the four mobility tracks
Attached, you can also find a flyer with all details.

Students can apply for the EMSP Excellence Grants and for a broad range of external funding opportunities.
We would also like to refer to our excellent track-record based on the current careers of our photonics alumni: http://www.ugent.be/ea/photonics/en/research/career/overview.htm

In case you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact the Photonics Program Officers, Mr. Bert Coryn and Ms. Sigrid Monsieur (secre...@masterphotonics.be).
