Hi,

I don't have a clear idea about this. If you want to help others informally (not sure what did you mean by "help" though) you can do so even without practicing. Nandini (CCd this mail to her) could probably shed light and that could help other aspiring individuals as well with similar line of thoughts.

Krish: Do you have any information on this? If so please share.

Nandini: Request your inputs, thanks!

Regards,
Franklin

Hi Sundar,

Don't know what are your reasons to "want" to do the PG course though.....you should spend some time and figure out your "need" from the course.

There is Nothing like a Full Time 2 year course, If you can take the time off and do it, however I guess, we all have busy lives and want to continue with gaining knowledge, learning and studying and we are very fortunate that this course is being offered as a 'Distant Learing' PG degree programe.

I have also completed my MSC from UOM last year and am happy and glad to see that this group (initiated by Franklin) is actually doing some great work!!!

All The Best and Good Luck!

regards,
Nandini

p.s : Frank - What happened to our Degrees? Have you got yours? Will it come via mail / post or do we need to make several trips for that as well ;)? Ooops, didnt mean to de-motivate you, Sundar! haha!!!

Hi,
Hope this the right place to clarify some of the thoughts I have with the seniors.
I plan to do PG in psychology , my background being totally technical in nature.

I need some advice from people who have already completed their PG.
After some rigorous search I found only some universities offering Psychology in PG,
some of them being

Univ of Madras,
Bharatiar Univ
and Annamalai Univ

would like to which one would be an appropriate one . How are the faculty from each of  them
if any of you have info .One draw back I have seen from other univ`s is that you need to
take compulsary PCP in their univ campus which is kind of very remote.

And finally how is the Madras Univ compared the rest on the PG psychology .

Regards,
Sundar. --

Dear Karthikeyan,

What is it that you want to Practise?

Msc Psychology is only a mere masters degree (our course was via correspondence if you recollect it is not as strong as a full time degree course)
  - what is it that YOU WANT to do with this background?

What is the "help" that you are talking about? Kindly clarify and expand on it.

If you are talking about Counselling - then i am afraid this degree will NOT suffice - you will need to do a course / diploma in Counselling Psychology and also intern with a senior practising counsellor to get the clinical knowledge before you can set up your own practise.

Hope this is helpful and should you need further information, pl do feel free to get in touch.

Best wishes,

Do you want to be a TRAINER? Then do a Train the Trainer Program Certification.

A NLP Practitioner? T.A Psychotherapist? - everything needs further specialisation.

Hello all,

I am very glad to inform that I did this course in 2008-10.
After that I did a Counselling Course from Christian Counselling Centre in July-August 2012, after my daughter got married.
Since October 2012 till date, I have been working as a counsellor with the Vanitha Cell of Kerala Police, on an honorary basis.
I also work as a school counsellor in one of the Govt. schools in Kerala, under the Social Justice dept., on contract basis.
For both these jobs, the basic qualification is this PG.
All best wishes.
Love and Regards,
Sumati
