Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Training - SchEMS

School of Environmental Science & Management (SchEMS) announces two
weeks
training program on Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).

Training details:
Date: Nov. 17 - Dec. 2, 2010
Venue: SchEMS, New Baneshwor

Training Fee: Rs. 10000/- for individuals, Rs. 15,000/- for
institution/organization

Training Module

Module (1) Introductory lectures on the basic concept of EIA and
sustainability
. sustainable development - key concepts,
. tools and techniques for sustainable development,
. environmental issues of Nepal and other developing
countries,
. environmental policies, strategies, legislations,
standards,norms,
. international conventions and obligation and
. Local Agenda 21, and Environmental indicators for
Sustainable Development

Module (2) Environmental Assessment and Management
. General introduction to IEE/EIA/SIA/SEA
. Review of legislation, institution, international
conventions and treaties in broader perspective
. EIA system in Nepal, Policy, legislative measures,
regulations and
guidelines,
. EIA principle and procedures,
. EIA project cycle and the project management,
. EIA process in Nepal as per EPR (1997)
. Cumulative and sector specific Strategic Environmental
Assessment (SEA),
. ISO-14000 series and Environmental Management System, and
. Life cycle analysis and eco-audit

Module (3) EIA Tools and Methods
. Screening /scooping and TOR preparation,
. Data collection, compilation and interpretation,
. Impact identification and analysis of significance,
. Environmental monitoring and auditing,
. Environmental management plan and EIA report review process,
. Use of GIS and computer software in EIA making, and
. Writing of EIA reports.

Module (4) Field Study
. Hydropower development project,
. Road project
. Industry project, and
. Preparation of field study reports.
