Hi,

I submitted several jobs from the same folder. However, when I check the log file I got this message repeatedly:
Perform Search
Input files contain 106175 ms2 spectra
Searching file 'Di_P2007_200.mgf'...
Searching spectra 1 - 2000 of 106175 spectra
Starting search against fwd database...
Identifying Peptides
Loading database
Loading database failed.
The process cannot access the file '/srv/data1/home/cguetot/projects/epigg/deepnovo/searches/.MSAmanda2.0/AmandaDB/1c6d0738-d061-40e6-b025-c43b172bc098_map_elastaseFULL_3_6_20/prot100000_0' because it is being used by another process.
Scored 0 peptide hits in 320.82 sec

My guess is that the software is creating and using the same temporary file for all jobs simultaneously, leading to the error.  Assuming this is true, how can I set the temporary files as jobs I submit?

I am using MS Amanda 2.0 v. 2.0.0.17442 for Linux.

thanks in advance,

Hi Carlos,

this is true. MS Amanda is (re-)using the same folder. This is because it re-uses previously digested databases to increase search speed if you always use the same database. It is (not yet) possible to access the same folder from different instances, but we are working on that.
Here is the work around for that:
In the settings.xml there is a parameter "data_folder", you can change accordingly.
<data_folder>DEFAULT</data_folder>
Each of your job should use a different folder path.

Best,
Viktoria
