Muslim Students Association (MSA) and Women In Islam (WII) along with the Undergraduate Student Government (USG) of Baruch College cordially invites everyone to the event:

LAW 101: KNOW YOUR RIGHTS
- Educating the minorities of their rights in the United States of America.

It was Benjamin Franklin who said that “any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both.”

In the wake of the Associated Press (AP) reports which shows that the New York Police Department has been actively spying on the Muslim communities in this post 9/11 era, we at Baruch College have decided to organize a 3-part Law Seminar with reputed and resourceful organizations who will educate the minorities on campus of their rights and civil liberties which the US Constitution provides every lawful and law abiding citizen and resident.

We believe like all other Americans that law enforcement must work within the framework of our laws and Constitution.

These actions of the NYPD are not only morally wrong and highly improper but also goes against our Constitutional principles of liberty and presumed innocence until otherwise proven.) Targeting minorities based on their religion, ethnicity and race is an offensive crime against the values of freedom and fairness.

Baruch Muslim Students Association (MSA) is organizing this critically important event and we will have guest speakers who are lawyers and interns from the CUNY LAW SCHOOL to give a presentation regarding the rights protecting the minorities in this country. Everyone, Muslims and Non-Muslims are highly encouraged to attend this extremely important event. This personally affects all of us and we need to come together to tackle these issues. This is the first of the three part Law Seminar.

Women In Islam (WII) and Undergraduate Student Government (http://www.facebook.com/usgbaruch) are Co-Sponsoring this event with us.

We pray to Allah SWT that everyone benefits from our initiative. We look forward to seeing you then !!!
