tomorrow Thursday, March 26, for a talk by guest scholar Dr. Rudolph Ware, University of Michigan.
"The
Walking Qur'an: West Africans and Islamic Knowledge." Learn about
Islamic education, embodied knowledge, and history in West Africa. This
talk will explore a thousand years of history through the lens of the
Qur’an school, the basic institution of education for millions of boys
and girls throughout the region."
The talk will take place at 6
to 7:30 p.m., 3512 Knauss Hall. Please note that this is a change of
location from last years "Islam in Global Perspectives" talks.
Knauss
Hall is across the street from Moore Hall, and has an elevated walkway
connecting it to Friedmann Hall. Parking is free in lots 33, 34, and 35
during the event.
This event is free and open to the public. It
is hosted by the Islam in Global Perspectives Speaker Series, the WMU
Department of Comparative Religion and The Diether H. Haenicke Institute
for Global Education Global Education Fund.
