Unit 3: Two Views of the Crusades

This excerpt of a larger paper on the Crusades highlights the issue of motivation among European crusaders.  The article contrasts two perspectives on what motivated European crusaders.  Please summarize the two perspectives as best you can, being sure to cite specific evidence used by the author for both POV's.  Finally, take a position as to which POV you find more convincing and why, again, citing evidence from the article and additional evidence you have gathered to this point.
