Congratulations again on being this year’s recipients of the 2013 SYDE symposium 4^th year design awards.  As you know, each award was sponsored by either D2L, Grantek or Miovision and associated with 500$ donation from the sponsor.

The awards were given as follows

 

People’s choice award sponsored by Desire2Learn

“Build-A-               by MRS Furniture”, by Suhaila Baheyeldin, Mihika Kashyap and Rachel Northey.  Project supervisor: Carolyn MacGregor

 

Best Design Project sponsored by Grantek and shared by

“Autonomous Tracking of a Moving Object With a Quadrocopter”, by Alvan Buckley, Victor Gan, Angus Leigh and Manavendrakamur Shah.  Project supervisor: Justin Eichel and Steve Waslander

“SmartDoor” by Oliver Chan, Hyeryen Shin and Daniel Tran.  Project supervisor: John Zelek

 

Best entrepreneurial Potential Award   sponsored by Miovision

“BEES: Beekeeper Effort Enhancement System”, by Afsheen Ghorashy, Angela Kim, Jason Pye and Paul Van Der Vecht.  Project supervisor: Paul Fieguth

 

This means that Group 4 and 10 will each receive 500$.  Group 5 and 13 will share the Best design cash award and thus each group will receive 250$.

 

I am currently talking with our sponsors to see how we can best handle the cash donation as it gets complicated and slower if it goes through UW.  I should have more detailed for you by next week on how things will proceed to receive the cash award.
