Race Transfers

Does your race allow registered runners to transfer registration from full to the half marathon?  I am running another marathon prior to this date and should be recovered and ready to run the full again and would like to get registered.  However, if my recovery is a bit behind would opt for the half if needed.  My dilemma then is to register now for the full and see what happens, or wait until closer to your race date to make a decision.
