How did the meeting with Julia go? Describe you feelings and thoughts
as you read it.

It was a very awkward meeting and it seemed like total disgust toward
each other but yet they still wanted to meet again at some point. It
is weird how they claim they love each other, when in the first place
they do not really even know the feeling, yet they are able to betray
each other despite their claimed "love" for each other. I was almost
mad at them for the way they acted towards each other. They had gone
through so much together and been with each other for a ceratin
purpose but now they hated each other. It was annoying to me, I just
did not like, or understand why they would talk with such disgust
toward each other after everything.

The meeting with Julia went as well as it could have gone. As a result
of being tortured by the party, Winston and Julia no longer have a
lust for life, so to speak. The things that they enjoyed before no
longer matter and they no longer want them. They only met because they
still had the feeling inside them that they need to meet because the
party the party was unsuccessful in removing their feelings for each
other completely. They wanted to meet, but when they did, they did not
connect in the same way they did before and did not have any real
feelings for each other. Their meeting was brief because they did not
have much to say. Their lives had been dramatically changed and now
they no longer felt very strongly about anything.

I agree with Sammi on how she said that is was very awkward, I do not
think that it was total disgust though. I think the feelings for one
another is still in them. It felt like a couple that was together for
many years and then broke up, meeting for the first time. Winston held
Julia on such a high pedestal and seeing her after seeing what big
brother did to her I think Winston realized that she was not the same
girl anymore, and that he was not the same either. I do not agree with
how Sammi said that they are disgusted with one another and that how
can the "love" be gone. I do not think they are disgusted of one
another they are more disgusted with themselves After what happened to
both of them they both realized that no matter how strong "love" is
you are always going to put yourself first. After figuring that out
the "love" was just gone.

I agree with Sammi that the meeting went really awkward at first. I
think because of being tortured by the Party, it kind of put both of
them in their places and it made them love eachother less. I am not
saying they do not love eachother anymore, because I am sure they have
some feelings towards eachother, but they do not long to make love
with eachother or make meetings to lay with eachother. The Party
changed their mindset on a lot of different views on lust and purity
and they no longer feel like they can have that secret relationship
anymore.

I do agree with Courtney on how she agreed and disagreed with Sammi.
The conversation between Winston and Julia was awkward but all the
torture and betrayal that they went through one must expect the
conversation to be uncomfortable. On top of that, they have not even
seen each other in months. Julia was very important to Winston at one
point of time and Julia was basically Winston's first true love.
After they broke up they had somewhat forgotten about each other.
They thought of the other person but not in the same way at all. When
they met, they had no clue what to say to the other person. They
still love each other but have no lust for the opposite sex at all
anymore. Obviously, their love in their relationship would never be
the same.
That is what makes the readers sad because I bet most of them wanted
Julia and Winston to last forever.

When Winston saw Julia, he wanted to follow her and talk to her. He
says that there is no danger in it. At first, it seems that Julia was
disgusted of seeing because she betrayed him and was probably ashamed.
He wondered if it came out of the past or whether he looked bad
because he had been beaten up. Maybe it was the same for Julia because
she had a huge scar on her face. They thought they loved each other at
a point where neither of them would betray the other one but as soon
as they were in front of their biggest fear, they both did betray each
other. Like Sammi I did not really understand in the beginning when
they act like they hate each other. They are both so scared of getting
caught again and tortured that they maybe don't want to see each other
anymore, especially for Julia. But at the end of their conversation,
they seem to want to meet again, which is never going to happen
because Winston got shot. I think it was kind of pointless to write
that meeting, it doesn't bring anything new to the story.

It seemed that they were trying to recindle the sparks they had
before, but they both knew that it was over and them to just be
comrads. It was a bit confusing though, mostly cause he was thinking
how much is was really repulsed by her. I think if they were never
caught, they would still be in a relationship together. Although,
they both seem to deeply and secretely hate Big Brother. The
akwardness between them made it hard for them to even talk as comrads,
so they just decide to leave it all at that.

I agree with Courtney on how they still probably have feelings for one
another but since everything that has happened they do not show it. I
think with all the beating and what happened since they have been
caught, both of them have changed and now just keep their feelings to
themselves and do not show their feelings at the meeting. I disagree
with Sammi that they are disgusted and think it's that they have
changed and are not the same people anymore.

The interactions between Winston and Julia used to be very sexual and
loving for one another. This time, they met after being brain
washed. When Winston saw Julia, he felt different towards her. This
time, he felt no love or affection for her, neither did Julia. Julia
did not even realize that Winston was there. They sat down to talk,
but nothing was said. This meeting was very awkward and they both
felt disgusted by one another. Yet, they wanted to meet again. In
the past, they wanted to be together, but now they don't even have the
same feelings after what they went through to be with each other. If
they were brain washed, how could they remember each other. I thought
everything was flushed out of them.
