Compare and contrast Winston's reaction to the letter from Julia
before he reads it and after he reads it.

When Winston realized that Julia kept following him he started acting
paranoid. Later he admitted to Julia that before he got the note he
hated the sight of her. He wanted to rape her and then kill her.
Then we he was running away from her he contemplated smashing her head
by a cobblestone. He thought that she was active in the Thought
Police and was spying on him and then he would be killed.

After he reads the note, he was speechless and could not stop thinking
about her. He still doubted her and if she was being sincere when she
wrote I love you in the note that she gave to him. He did not want to
be naive and get caught with these sins and be murdered. Then he
decided that he did no care if he got caught since he was, for the
first time, excited that he actually found someone that he seemed to
be emotionally and physically attracted to. He now had a reason to
live.

I couldn't agree more.

Before he got the note, Winston wanted to rape and kill Julia because
he was attracted to her, but afraid she was a party member. After
receiving the letter, however, he had different feelings and wants to
meet her.

I agree with Tecya, Winston was at first afraid and not sure about
Julia. He did want to kill her so he wouldn't get caught by the
Thought Police. Then when he helped her up when she fell, she gave
him a note, which in it, all it said was, "I love you". Winston was
shocked and still was eerie about Julia. Then they met up and talked
and then they ended up committing a crime together. When he began
writing in his journal, he knew he was going to die, and with living
such a boring life, he felt there was no reason to live, till his
encounter with Julia and their crime/sin.

I agree with what Tecya wrote. Winston in the beginning wanted to rape
and kill her with a rock, now he is intrigued with this lady.

Winston feels insecure before he receives the note from Julia and that
causes him to think violently. He creates a plan of action that he
could take to get rid of Julia because he thinks she is part of the
Thought Class. Winston become paranoid and is over reacting to
everything thing that comes up about Julia. After Winston receives
the letter he is still a little concerned about her and what she
really does, but eventually he can not stop himself from thinking
about her in a sexual way that will not end in her death. He gets to
a point of paranoia of which he thinks Julia forgot about him because
he gets so attached to the thought of her liking him and the thought
of having a sexual encounter.

Winston hated Julia a lot before he rad the note. He thought that she
was a spy that was out to get him so he was thinking of ways to rape
her and kill her. He also had sexual thought about her before they met
but he does not trust her at all. After he read the note, Winston did
not know whether to believe Julia or not, because she could still be a
spy trying to catch him. It quickly changed because Winston had been
attracted to her and he started feeling less paranoid and scared.

Before he receives a note from Julia, he hated the sight of her. He
wanted to rape and then murder her. Winston wanted to smash Julia's
head with a cobblestone. All of this because he thought that she was
involved with the Thought Police. She looked fresh, healthy, young,
and pure, which gave off the impression that she was somehow involved
with the Party. After he receives the note from Julia, he is nervous
and trying to contradict what exactly this note might say. Once he
read it, he had to read it once more. He could not get over that she
said that to him. After reading the note over several times, it
seemed harder for him to work. He thought of her naked several
moments before and after reading the note. He saw the youthful body
as if it were directly from his dream. Once Julia and Winston met
they became more and more in a sexual relations with each other.

I agree with what Tecya previously stated. Before Winston reads the
note, he hated Julia. He wanted to rape and kill her, and bash her
head with a cobblestone. Afterwards, he sort of likes the fact that
he is loved by her. He likes that she admires him. He also likes the
fact that he is wanted by another human.

I agrre with tecya too.
Because before he reads the book he didnt like Julia and he did want
to kill her.
But after he reads it he changed his opinion about Julia and now he
knows that she loves him.
