Describe Winston's job. Bring up specific parts and duties, such as
the memory hole. What is ironic about what he does in relation to
where he works?

In Winston's cubicle, at the Records Department, there were three
orifices in the wall. The first was for a small tube of written
messages, to the left, a larger one for newspapers. The last was for
the disposal of waste paper. These same slits were found throughout
the building, not in every room, but in every corridor. These
disposal slits were known as memory holes. A memory hole is for any
documents that need to be destroyed or vanished. Very often Winston
used these orifices for work. His job was to rectify the original
figures by making them agree with the later ones. He changed names,
events, and etc. in any present things. He does this because people,
places, literature, and etc. vanish, and it is his job to help correct
these errors. With his corrections, it will be reprinted, the
original copy destroyed, and the corrected copy to be placed on
files.

Winston works in the Ministry of Truth and his job is to rectify the
original figures by making them agree with the later ones. When he is
done correcting the original messages or even his own notes, he sends
them into the memory hole which destroyed it by the flames. What is
ironic is that he is supposed to work in a place where they tell the
truth to people but instead they hide it and destroy all the history
of the world by replacing them with fake information, just to match
what big brother and the party say. The only thing that matters is
that big brother is ALWAYS right and that nothing contradicts him.
As soon as Winston is done with all the corrections, all proofs are
destroyed and reprinted with the new information (newspapers, books,
periodicals, posters, leaflets, films, sound tracks, cartoons,
photographs...)and nobody will ever find the truth about it. It belongs
to the past.

Winston's job at the Ministry of Truth is definitely not the truth.
Winston works in a small area, with newspapers and messages and a
"memory hole." In this memory hole, he gets rid of documents that are
to be completely destroyed forever. In his job, he often got rid of
the truth, so it is ironic that they would call it "The Ministry of
Truth," because it entails the exact opposite. He gets rid of the
truth and instead, replaces it with lies and statistics that are
false. No one really understands what is real because all of the
statistics are lies because Winston recreates them to show false
truths. A quote on page 41 says, "Statistics were just as much a
fantasy in their original version as in their rectified version."
There is also another quote on the same page that says, "Everything
faded away into a shadow-world in which, finally, eve the date of the
year had become uncertain." Basically, no one knows the truth or
anything for that matter. Winston's job is basically one big
oxymoron.

Winston works for the Ministry of Truth and his job is to vaporize the
citizens in Big Brother's society. Not only does he make people
disappear, but he also recreates them, making them better. He uses a
device called "the memory hole" and like Caytee and Julie said, the
memory hole is what he uses to dispose of records from the past and
any other documents that need to be vanquished so that people will
have no recollection of them.
The irony of the Ministry of Truth is that it is built off of lies.
They make people evaporate into thin air and then dispose of all of
their records. They have complete control of the past. Big Brother
will foretell the future and if they so happen to be wrong, it is
Winston's job to go back into history and rewrite what Big Brother
foretells so that it will coincide with future.

Winston works in the Ministry of Truth in the records department. He
is responsible for getting rid of the documents that Big Brother do
not want. He changes the documents such as magazines, newspapers, etc.
and makes new documents so the past was destroyed. What is ironic
about where Winston works is the name of the Ministry of Truth. They
actually lie to the people instead of telling them the truth. Big
Brother always wants to be right and does not want to proving wrong,
so he has Winston and other comrades to get rid of the truth and
contradict the name of the ministry

Winston works at the Ministry of Truth. Winston is the man or one of
the men who gets rid of all the things Big Brother does not want
history to see. Winston is basically a editor for Big Brother. What is
very ironic is the name of Ministry of Truth, when it has nothing to
do with truth at all. If anything Big Brother is trying to get rid of
the truth " for the best of the world."

Winston works in the Ministry of Truth. This very ironic name for a
place that changes the past. He works in a very small cubicle and no
one talks to each other while they are working. It seems that Winston
does not even know very many of his comrades that work in the same
room he does. There is not much to Winston's desk. It has a pneumatic
tube that Winston gets all his jobs for the day. His "jobs" that he
has to do is recreate the past in which he has to make "Big Brother"
look like he is always right. If Big Brother said something that he
could not fulfill then it is Winston's job to make the people who are
under Big Brothers rule forget that Big Brother ever said what he
said. Such as the chocolate rations. There is also a telescreen and a
speakwrite on his desk. If Winston ever needs anything that he does
not have then he can request what he needs through the speakwrite and
whatever he requested will come through the pneumatic tube. When
Winston is finished with a "job" he throws the papers and his notes
down the memory tube. In which everything is incinerated. Winston
seems to like his job because he can use Newspeak. The idea behind
these memory holes is to get rid of all evidence that leads to
questioning Big Brother.

Winston Smith is a member of the ruling Party in near-future London,
Winston Smith is a thin, frail, contemplative, intellectual, he has 39
years old. Winston hates the totalitarian control and enforced
repression that are characteristic of his government. He harbors
revolutionary dreams.Winston works in the Ministry of Truth and his
job is rectify the
original figures by making them agree with the later ones. (change the
history). He changes the documents such as magazines, newspapers, etc.
No body understands what is real because all of the
statistics are lies because Winston change and some are recreated to
show false
truths.

He works in the ministery of truth and he has to change the past.
That is ironic because he is changing the past that is not true. ,
the
memory hole is what he uses to dispose of records from the past and
documents that need to be distroyed so that people can't read it
anymore.
