Describe the preparations for Hate Week. In what ways does the Inner
party excel in building spirit?

Julia describes how she helps build up spirit for Hate Week. The
complex preparations cause extra work to be thrown onto everyone.
Julia helps put up posters, signs, and banners to help get the spirit
up for Hate Week. She makes sure that everyone knows about the week
and prepares for it with excitement. Even though she may not care or
not have excitement about it, she still has to act as if she cares or
else she will be vanished.

Caytee is right on how they go into over drive with everyone. Any
comrade who works in a ministry has to work double there hours to get
everything complete. With posters on every corner to pumping people
up. The party excels by making people work so hard, it makes the
comrades think about Hate Week every second until it is done. Most
normal people would get sick about hearing about Hate Week, but since
the comrades don't think for themselves, they just get pumped up about
it. I think Hate Week is like a holiday for these people, almost like
Christmas.

I agree. A lot of planning goes into preparing everyone for the hate
week. The added posters make people angry against the enemies of
oceania. They make people work more so they are occupied with their
jobs so they will then appreciate hate week.

I definately agree with what Courtney and Caytee said. Everyone seems
to be in a panic to get everything done perfectly for hate week. They
work extra so that everything will be set and done accurately. They
create banners and signs to visualize the upcoming week of Hate. They
get so focused on it, they do not really have time to think about
anything else. They cannot think about anything else anyways, because
of the fear of being vaporized. The process seems dull and tiring,
but they cannot think this, as stated before, because of the fear of
being diminished and vaporized.

I agree with Caytee and how Julia really wants to help out with Hate
Week or at least make people believe that she wants to. During the
month prior to Hate Week, Winston had to work sixty hours a week and
Julia had to work more so they never got to see each other. Julia was
too busy preparing for Hate Week. She had to spend her time in
lectures, give out literature for the Anti-Sex Leagues, preparing
banners, making collections, as well as other activities.

I agree with Courtney, in the ways that Hate Week is like Christmas
for us. Most people are overwhelmed at these times and have to do
everything last minute to get their jobs done which is what Julia is
doing right now. All the people are brainwashed that Hate Week is a
great thing since all of them just believe what they are told to do.

Hate week is a week where the only thing that people who work in the
Ministery do is work, work and work. Winston is working 60 hours a
week and Julia even more. They have to "prepare" people. The Music
Department even invents a "song" (without any human intervention but
just an instrument called versificator) about it and people actually
sing it. The song is diffused in London during the weeks that precede
Hate Week. Julia attends lectures and demonstrations, distributes
literatures for the Junio Anti-Sex league, prepares banners, making
collections for the savings campaign and suchlike activities. There
are military parade, processions, meetings, lectures, waxwork
displays, film shows, telescreen programs, slogans, rumors circulated,
effigies were built, photographs faked, ect...

Everyone is involved and kind of hyper about Hate week no matter if
they do not care about it at all. They set up signs and posters to
prepare the town amd make sure that everyone knows about it even
though they rebel agaisntthe perty and do no want to do it. It seems
like they are faking the excitement for Hate Week but still there is a
buzz around the town for it.

I agree. During the preparation for Hate Week everyone have to work
more- hours and very hard-. They make a lot of planning to preparing
all the thing for this special Week. Julia work more hours than
Winston, she work hard puting up sings and some posters. :]
