Using Advanced rhetorical devices.

Task:

1. Using the advanced techniques we looked at, write a speech on your chosen research topic using these three devices in a Google doc and post here as a reply.

2. Read everyone else's work and reflect.

3. Critically evaluate at least two other pieces of work.

Now post the following thoughts:

1. What I have learned from doing this task:

2. What I need to do better:

What i have learnt is that a speech can be a lot better if they use the techniques like anophoras, this makes the speech a lot more effective

I learnt that the power of three is only very effective when used at the end of a sentence
I think that I could have used more techniques because I only used a few but in greater quantity

1. What I have learned from doing this task:

How to analyse other work and point out the technicality of the writing and how to lay out a persuasive speech.

2. What I need to do better:

To analyse my own work and to think about it logically in a way that my writing will be as good and as powerful as it can be.

What I have learnt: I have learnt that there are different ways to write a speech, for example, you could right a speech with a reoccurring theme such as 'never' or you could write a speech which is factual rather than motivational.

What I need to do better: I think I need that I need to use more connectives and I also need to use more rhetorical devices.

What I have learned from doing this task:
I learned that using a few rhetorical questions at the start is powerful and makes me read on or listen more and using techniques make speeches more effective.

What I need to do better:
Use more of the techniques and really think about what I am writing.

I learnt how effective anaphora is useful and how it's creates an effect on the listener or reader. I need to use power of 3 more often.

What have I learned: In topics such as violence and hatred, playing on the reader's guilt and sympathy is extremely effective.

What could I improve on: I could have spaced it out further to make it less intimidating... it was a bit too complex having my middle paragraph so big.

What have I learnt from this task?

1. I have learnt how to identify Rhetorical Devices and how to consider the effect these techniques have on the reader.
2. I have also learnt how to analyse someones work to a high and in depth standard.

What do I need to improve on?

1. I think I need to improve my embedding more statistics into my work to give it justification.
2. I also think I should try and add more Anaphora into my work to make it even more effective.

What I have learned:

- Quotations make the reader believe that the write knows what he's talking about.
- It is good to make 2 different points and then argue against them- juxtaposition.

What I need to do better:

- Insert more quotations.

1. What I have learnt:

I have learnt how to annotate other people's work in a way that can show them what they have done well and what they need to do better and how they can achieve this. I also learnt that it is good to use an antithesis at the beginning of the project/speech.

2. What I need to do better:

To improve, I could use some quotes to prove some of my points that I have explained. I could also use more statistics, also to back up the points I have made with real information.

  1. What i have learnt:  I have learnt that power of three adds greater effect nearer the end of the sentence, as it finishes with more power when placed at the end.
  2. What i need to do better:  I need to use grammar in the right places and vary the Rhetorical devices, and not just use the same one.

What have I learnt: I have learnt that using quotes to back up points is a effective way of making your point heard and make it powerful.I have also learnt using actions is a good way of making something persuasive.

What i need to do better: Be more thorough when commenting on work. I need to structure my work more clearl.

1) What I have learnt from doing this task:
I learnt that personal pronouns are very effective because they make the reader relate to you.
I have also learnt that using anaphora can really help to emphasise your point

2) What do I need to do better:
I need to write more.
I think I need to write more rhetorical questions to create more effect.
I need to use quotations to back up my points.

What I have learnt from doing this task: You can use rhetorical devices in a way which continues flow of the sentence
The way you structure a sentence or paragraph can affect the way the technique comes acros

What i need to do better: I need to improve the amount of techniques i use in my writing but use them in a way that doesn't hinder the flow.
Think ore about my topic and about the device I should therefore use

1. what i have learnt: i have learnt from the other persons and my work that a speech can be a lot more effective if they use techniques such as anaphoras because this can help avoid repetition
2. what i need to do better: i think i need to use more linking words to link my sentences better

1. What I have learnt from doing this task:

In today's task I learnt that starting with rhetorical questions instantly makes the reader more interested, I also learnt that I could instead of saying all the questions in order I could do short answers in between.

2. What I need to do better:

Use more rhetorical questions at the beginning of the speech by doing this I believe it will be more persuasive. As well as this I could also go into more depth when going about the answers, to  do this I could use more statistics to help persuade the reader.

What I have learnt from todays task:
I think that reading through another pupils speech enables you to realise how the rhetorical devices create an affect on the reader when reading it. Rhetorical devices are a great way of starting a speech and displaying your inner and outer thoughts and feelings. It also helps you understand how to use certain devices better then you used to because you may end up understanding how to use them better then you could.

What I need to improve on:
1.

Need to be more precise on the facts I give

2.use better language to answer his hypophora, preferably not colloquial, like I did.

From reading the work of other people, I have learnt:
  • How to analyse other people's work effectively and comment on the good parts and the ones which need to be improved in their speech.
  • To use statistic in the speech to prove the points stated.
  • Continue to use the power of three
  • To have a very powerful and captivating start to the speech
What I need to do better:
  • Continue to use rhetorical devices and play on the reader's guilt
  • To use more statistic in the speech

Next time I would use more power of three. I have learnt how to make better rhetorical questions by looking at other people's work.

what I have learnt from other's work:
I have learnt,
how to analyse other people's work by pointing out the good and bad points to make it better.
how to make my speech better by using some devices that they have used but in different places E.g. a rhetorical question in the middle could go at the end.
use more statistics to make people believe the points

How to improve:
I need to work on my grammar
Use more points to back up the evidence I have given
Use more statistics in my writing to prove the points

1.What I have learned from doing this task?

The Power of three is very effective and sometimes it happens just through writing. That juxtaposing things is very effective. Also using the name of a place or thing you are talking about repetitively makes it more likable or near the forefront of you mind.
that the atmosphere created by the overall piece is as important as all of the separate techniques focused on smaller points

2. What I need to do better:

I need to use anaphora and hypophora more often as well as make sure that my writing is easy to understand and follow
